In 1924, the Argentine population of 9.648.000 included 2.383 Japanese. In 1933 there were 5.338 Japanese, most of them bachelors. The various groups who had come from the Japanese provinces even to this date meet every year for athletic competitions.
They have brought along their musical instruments, and those coming from Okinawa began getting together in instrumental groups and dancing groups.
As is the case with most of his fellow countrymen, Kiyotomi Uehara enjoys sports and music.
